This type of flare is specifically designed for use in biomethane production plants where both the biogas upstream of the upgrading plant and the biomethane generated downstream of the treatment process need to be disposed of through combustion.
TCD Italia has also developed a special system that allows for the simultaneous management of both gas flows, using a dedicated dual-fuel burner that also maintains stable gas pressure within the digester.
The flare is designed to achieve high combustion efficiency and consequently obtain very low CO and NOx levels downstream of combustion, traceable via externally accessible analysis ports.
The high-temperature flare consists of a burner installed at the base, equipped with a high-energy ignition pilot and a UV scanner flame detection system.
Combustion air is conveyed through an automatic damper that automatically modulates the flow rate via a temperature probe immersed in the combustion zone, ensuring a constant combustion temperature up to a maximum of 1,200°C (visible and adjustable from the control panel).
The supporting structure consists of a vertical cylindrical combustion chamber, internally lined with refractory ceramic fiber and specifically sized to ensure adequate gas residence time within the combustion chamber.
Ignition is automatic, managed by the electrical panel installed at the base of the torch, and involves initially lighting the pilot and then opening the main gas supply valve.
These torches, unlike open-flame torches, generate significant ground radiation from combustion, as the flame remains contained within the combustion chamber.
